Stressful conditions manifest themselves not only during the competition period, but also in conditions of intensive training camps in sports camps, characterized by increased psycho-emotional stress. The article analyzes the manifestations of competitive stress, its impact on the behavioral and emotional reactions of young athletes, as well as the formation of skills to overcome it. The aim of the study is to study the dynamics of the stress state of young athletes during intensive training camps. The study sample consisted of 100 adolescents aged 14 to 18 years, professionally engaged in various sports: boxing, wrestling, table tennis, skiing. In the course of the study, the ascertaining and formative stages of the study were carried out, which made it possible to identify qualitative changes in stress levels.
Research methods: psychological testing, observation, quantitative and qualitative analysis of the data obtained using such methods as "TiD" and the self-assessment test of stress resistance by S. Cohen and G. Willanson, as well as for an objective assessment of the results of the study, based on the results of the formative experiment, an assessment of the level of stress resistance of representatives of specific sports undergoing training camps was given.
The results of the study and their discussion show the dynamics of the formation of skills for overcoming competitive stress in athletes, while organizing proper psychological and pedagogical training, can be used by sports psychologists and coaches to develop targeted preventive and correctional programs in the context of training camps, including those implemented in sports and recreation camps.
In order to develop stress management skills in sports camps, it is recommended to optimize the daily routine and training by introducing unloading exercises, allowing athletes to make an informed choice of exercises and organize theoretical training. It is important to provide psychological support through trainings and autogenic training to develop self-regulation skills, as well as to conduct role-playing games for athletes.
