The purpose of the study: to determine the dynamics of physical culture and sports motivation among schoolchildren and students in the learning process.
Research methods and organization: The study was conducted in 2026 on the basis of the Siberian State University of Physical Culture and Sports (SibGUFC), Siberian Federal University (SFU), and a number of secondary schools in Omsk. The study involved 120 students from grades 5 to 11 (people), students of 1-4 courses (people), undergraduates of 1-2 courses (persons). To identify physical education and sports motivation, we developed a questionnaire that allows us to identify the formation of the following motives: emotional pleasure, physical self-affirmation, civic and patriotic motives, success motives, and sports and educational motives.
Research results. A test has been developed to determine the severity of physical education and sports motivation. The article presents the results of a study of physical education and sports motivation among schoolchildren and students. The structure of schoolchildren's motivation is dominated by the motive of "emotional pleasure" during physical exercise (high level of motivation). The remaining motives have a moderate and low level of motivation. The motivation of SFU students is similar. The majority of motives among SibGUFK students have a high level of motivation.
Conclusion. The study allowed us to characterize the content of physical education and sports motivation among schoolchildren and students. It showed a significant difference in the motivation of schoolchildren, which is characterized by a pronounced focus on emotional pleasure and a lesser focus on improving physical development and sports results
