The purpose of the research is to develop and experimentally substantiate a methodology for strength training of qualified kettlebell athletes specializing in the «jerk» exercise, taking into account the biomechanical characteristics of the competitive exercise.
Methods and organization of the research. 64 qualified kettlebell athletes (from Category I to MSIC) took part in the study. The following methods were used: biomechanical analysis (video recording, goniometry, accelerometry), electromyography, pedagogical testing of strength qualities, pedagogical experiment, methods of mathematical statistics.
Results of the research and their discussion. The reference biomechanical parameters of the kettlebell jerk have been established, and five typical patterns of neuromuscular fatigue (triceps, quadriceps, gastrocnemius, lumbar, trapezius) have been identified. A methodology has been developed that includes five sets of means, two types of training (tonifying and developing), a six-stage implementation algorithm, and author's standards for assessing strength qualities. The results of the implementation of the methodology in four sports organizations (n=59) showed: the average increase in competitive results in the 32 kg kettlebell jerk for 10 minutes was 22.9% (from 42.8 to 52.6 lifts), strength endurance in squats with a 100 kg barbell – 38.2%, in the press of two 24 kg kettlebells – 45.8%, repulsion power – 16.0%, reduction of the repulsion phase time – by 22.7%. During the implementation period, the athletes fulfilled 2 standards of the Master of Sports of Russia and 10 standards of the Candidate Master of Sports.
Conclusion. The developed strength training methodology is effective and can be recommended for practical use in the training of qualified kettlebell jerkers.
