The purpose of the research is to analyze the indicators characterizing the situation regarding the holding of mass sports and physical education and health events in different regions of the Russian Federation at the present stage.

Methods and organization of the research. Using the method of content analysis, the calendar plans of official physical education and sports events in 30 regions of the Russian Federation for 2019-2024 were studied. Information was obtained from the official websites of regional executive authorities. In those regions where information was not provided for all years, the information available at the time of the study was considered. Then information was processed and summarized, the data obtained was structured by 8 federal districts, a comparative analysis of the data obtained was carried out. The indicators of sports and physical education events were analyzed separately. A comprehensive survey of consumers of physical education and sports events (anonymous questionnaires using Yandex forms) was conducted with the participation of 2,600 people (residents of 8 federal districts of the Russian Federation) to identify and analyze the activity indicators of attending events, consumer interests in relation to the focus of events, consumer satisfaction with the quality of organization and holding of events.

Results of the research and their discussion. It was revealed that, regardless of the federal district, the most popular sports during mass sports events in all districts of the Russian Federation are such sports as: athletics, football and sports games (volleyball, basketball), as evidenced by the highest numbers of events held. The dynamics of indicators for holding sports and physical education events over the past 5 years has been studied. In terms of the total number of sports events, positive dynamics were revealed in the Far Eastern, Northwestern, Siberian, Ural districts. In the Southern and Central Federal districts, the number of events has significantly decreased from 2019 to 2024. In the Siberian, North Caucasian, and Volga Federal Districts, no significant changes in the number of events were noted. In the Central and Ural Federal Districts, the number of all-Russian events increased significantly, while in the Volga and North Caucasian Federal Districts, a significant decrease in the number of all-Russian sports events has been revealed. The Far Eastern, Siberian, and Central Federal Districts are characterized by positive shifts in the total number of physical education events. In the Volga Federal District, a sharply expressed negative dynamics in the number of physical education events was revealed, which correlates with a sharp decrease in the number of all-Russian events in this district. In the Far Eastern, Northwestern, Siberian, and Central Federal Districts, there is a significant increase in the number of all-Russian physical education events, while in other federal districts this indicator is relatively stable. It should be noted that not all regions fully reflect the volume of physical education and sports events, which complicates full-fledged monitoring. High activity in relation to quantitative indicators of holding mass sports and physical education events was revealed in the Siberian, Ural, and Volga districts. The Central and Far Eastern Federal Districts have high rates. Low indicators are noted in the North Caucasian Federal District.

Conclusion. The analysis of the situation regarding holding physical education and sports events in different federal districts of the Russian Federation made it possible to compare indicators reflecting the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the work carried out, which allowed us to identify specific features for each district. The differences revealed in the number of events held, their scale, the number of sports and physical activity in different federal districts are due to a complex of reasons, including the peculiarities of material and technical, personnel, financial equipment, climatic and geographical features of the regions and ethnic differences.
