The article examines the influence of the level of claims on the formation of sports motivation in girls aged 7-8 years engaged in rhythmic gymnastics. The purpose of the research: to identify the peculiarities of the influence of the level of claims on the formation of sports motivation of girls aged 7-8 years engaged in rhythmic gymnastics.

Research methods: testing using the method of Schwarzlander and V. Marishchuk – A. Volkov, general logical methods of theoretical research (analysis, comparison, generalization), pedagogical experiment, mathematical and statistical data processing.

Results. During the study of the level of claims and motivation of young gymnasts, a low level of the studied indicators was established. Girls underestimate themselves, but do not strive to rise above the achieved level, they are reluctant to take on difficult tasks, they are afraid of failures. After including a number of activities in the training process for six months, such as encouragement in front of the whole group, persuasion by the example of senior gymnasts, individual censure, thematic conversations about willpower, about the desire to achieve a goal, watching video recordings of the performances of the world's strongest gymnasts, attending competitions of the senior age group, it was revealed that in the experimental group, the results of objective assessment of their capabilities improved in 87% of cases. In the control group, the level of sports motivation changed for the better in only 6% of gymnasts, and in the experimental group – in 93%.

Conclusion. During the educational activities, the level of self-esteem and achievement of success in the chosen sport increased among the gymnasts of the experimental group. The authors found that the more realistic the level of claims, the higher the sports motivation.
